Happy New Year!

We are looking forward to some great and wonderful events this month and through out the rest of the school year. Please take a look at the calendar of events for more information.

General Meeting Notice:PTA General Meeting January 21, 2010 at 5:30pm

There will be a PTA general meeting and election of the nominating committee for next year’s officers on January 21, 2010, at 5:30 P.M. in the school cafeteria.

All Goforth PTA members are invited and encouraged to be involved in this election process. The membership will elect the nominating committee (3 plus 1 alternate) who will nominate our Goforth PTA officers for next year, according to our bylaws.

The nominating committee is one of the most important committees since the election of officers is one of the most important duties of the association. It is the responsibility of the nominating committee to recognize and seek willing and qualified nominees for the elected leadership of a PTA.

The names and contact information for the nominating committee will be posted on school bulletin board. Please let them know if you would be interested in an officer’s position for next year. The election of new officers will be at the next general meeting scheduled on March 25th at 5:30, in the cafeteria. The slate of nominees will be posted at least 7 days prior to election meeting on bulletin board. Additional nominations may be made from the floor at the general election meeting.

PTA MISSION

The mission of the National PTA is three-fold:

• To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other prganizations that make decisions affecting children.
• To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children.
• To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

If you want to help in the class, attend a class activity, help the librarian, or to help with lunchroom YOU MUST have filled out this form and been approved prior to the office letting you in to help. Plan in advance!  You do not need to join a committee to be a volunteer.
